Maintaining our posture…

Over the past few months, as God had me going through a major faith transition, one thing the Holy Spirit has consistently highlighted to me is my posture…how am I “showing up” in the midst of adverse circumstances. Especially in circumstances that don’t look like how I expected them to look.

He currently has me re-reading Joshua and one thing I realize is that most of us would not have made it through the wilderness experience. The Bible says that (Numbers 14:27-30) because of their murmuring and complaining, they forfeited their promise (Joshua 5:6). While reading this, Holy Spirit highlighted that they missed the Promise Land over something they could control😱 their mouths…their heart posture…their power to resist the devil in making an idol with the golden calf…their power to sanctify themselves and rid themselves of the Egypt mentality 😮‍💨

“For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.” Joshua 5:6 KJV

How many of us are in situations where we are allowing the seeds of the enemy germinate and have free rein because we don’t “feel like fighting” today. Because “we’re over it today”. What if Jesus said “I don’t feel like “fighting” anymore for these people”?! I don’t want to finish the mission of going to the cross! He actually agonized over it but He said “nevertheless, not my will but thy will be done” (Matthew 26:39).

How much more us! Nothing we go through has the power or ability to dethrone God🙌🏽

When we are anchored in knowing the character of God, we understand that regardless of what comes, we will be as the Apostle Peter says, “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” John 6:68 KJV

Regardless of what happens in this temporary life, God still deserves the glory, honor, praise, worship, thankfulness, respect, etc. because the only other option (which shouldn’t be an option for Believers) is to give glory, honor and praise to the devil by ignoring God, complaining to God, being frustrated at God, etc. The devil would love nothing more than for us to ignore, resent God or walk in the spirit of entitlement when the greatest gift He has given us is salvation through His Son, Jesus.

As we go through transitions, may we maintain a posture of thankful, praise and worship to God. We may not understand everything that we have to endure, in the moment, but as we continue to seek God and surrender to His will, He will reveal more and more.
