So, one thing about me, is that I really enjoy movies based on a true story because they are not always predictable and we can typically find a relatable lesson somewhere in there.
The Firing Squad is a beautiful story of a group of men, set to be executed for their crimes. They committed their lives to Christ in prison and found true freedom in the midst. One man was even given the chance to be released if he denied Christ, but rather chose to die to defend Christ! A few takeaways from watching,
•God knows your name and there is no depth that we can go, where He won’t rescue us!
•God is merciful and provided redemption for all!
•God doesn’t care about your past; He uses it for His glory!
•We don’t “sell” Jesus…salvation is free!
•The men found true joy, safety, peace in the midst of being in prison! Sounds a bit like Paul and Silas (Acts 16:25)
•Sometimes God will use the worst times of our lives to bring us to the end of ourselves and closer to Him.
•“Redemption is available to all, that’s the beauty of the cross. The love of Jesus, covers all”
•God’s grace prevails!
Throughout the movie, the theme that stood out to me was 1 Corinthians 3:6…One man plants, another waters but God gives the increase
