I was thinking back on a not-so-good situation that I had gone through and was evaluating the reality of it. The Holy Spirit revealed to me that there is a difference between being or feeling “safe” and being “comfortable”, and the line can be very blurred at times depending on the health of spirit and soul.
We can find ourselves staying in situations that are not “safe” for us (mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc.) but because it’s familiar and predictive, we settle in and get “comfortable” even though it can be “stealing, killing and destroying us” (John 10:10).
I’m in a season where God has been having me do the “hard” things. The things that my flesh doesn’t necessarily want to do or cringes at, and exposes the roots that have been producing fruit not conducive to forward progress.
It’s been a little tough, honestly. But looking at it from a different perspective, it’s stretching…it’s birthing…it’s making room for new! There is a shift taking place!
17 Nor is new wine put into old [a]wineskins [that have lost their elasticity]; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the [fermenting] wine spills and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, so both are preserved.” (Matthew 9:17, AMP)
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:19, KJV).
